Confessions of a Kodály Music Teacher

Literature in the Elementary Music Classroom

Posted on: May 23, 2014

Good morning,

I live in North Texas now (Dallas/Plano/Frisco area), so I am close to the Music in Motion showroom and warehouse. They are having their showroom sale this month, so of course I had to go check out what was available :).  I hit the jackpot with picture books!  All of these books were from their deep sale room, and were under $40 total!!!

I can’t wait to really go through them and figure out how to use some of them in my classroom! Watch for a series of posts about how I use picture books and literature in my classroom 🙂

I haven’t stopped by Music in Motion in a while!! Probably safer on the credit card, but still…..

I want the Funga Alafia book!! I love that song!! And don’t get me started on the John Denver….I recently taught Inch by Inch to 1st grade to “serenade” our principals for their special recognition week and we watched his version from the Muppets. Love his music so much!!

The Funga Alafia book is sooooo cute – it even has graphic notation for the melody in the back! There’s a whole series of these books – I may go back and see if I can find the rest in that sale room 🙂

So tempting….and it’s on my side of town….perhaps a very early bday present to myself!

Hey, do you know of any others in our district with a blog? I need to add blogs that I follow to my page! And I certainly would check out anyone else’s if they have one!
