Confessions of a Kodály Music Teacher

About me

Ms. Wolfgang is a general music teacher in the Dallas, TX area.  Prior to her move to Texas, Ms. Wolfgang taught in a middle school band classroom with the Vandalia-Butler City School District, Vandalia, OH,  teaching 5-8 band, 7-8 music appreciation  and directing a handbell choir during the 2012-2013 school year. From 2005-2012, Ms. Wolfgang taught in a K-4 school in the same school district, building a strong Kodaly-inspired program for her students.  She received bachelor’s degrees from The Ohio State University for Music Education (BME), and Orchestral Performance – Flute (BM). Ms. Wolfgang is currently pursuing a Masters’ Degree in Music Education from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI, where she is studying the Kodaly Concept for Music Education with Sr. Lorna Zemke, DMA. In the summer of 2011, Ms. Wolfgang received her Kodaly Certificate, recognizing completion of all three levels of the Kodaly Concept. Ms. Wolfgang is an active member of the National Foundation for Music Education (NAfME), Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), and Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE). As a member of OMEA, Ms. Wolfgang serves on the General Music Committee. She looks to actively integrate educational technology resources into her classes and in January 2011 presented on the use of Interactive Response Systems (clickers) in the general music classroom.

Hi! I’m so glad I discovered your blog!! I teach early childhood music, and am always looking for clever ways to adapt primary-level lesson ideas for my older preschoolers. I’m looking forward to reading more soon.
